Since our first season, cultural heritage management has been an important component of our project. Working closely with local communities and government agencies, we continue to develop conservation and security programs in and around Mochena Borago. Training and education are also important to the project. This has included support for high school and university student field trips to the site, training of local communities and students from Addis Ababa and Jinka universities, and the development of an archaeological and cultural heritage program in the Department of History at Wolaita Sodo University through a grant from the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa. Future endeavors will include the implementation of a signage and interpretive exhibit at the rockshelter and other endeavors in support of regional heritage tourism.
